The World Health Organization has announced that COVID-19 is a pandemic. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) continues to provide regular updates on various public health measures to manage and control the spread of COVID-19. General Practice in Western Australia no longer has the authority to order the test for Coronavirus.
At Northbridge Medical Centre, we continue to be committed in providing medical care to our patients while preventing the spread of virus to other patients or staff.
If you have any infective symptoms regardless of travel history, please do not book online or come into the medical practice. Please call the practice to organise a Telehealth Consultation.
We are now encouraging Telehealth consultations for all our existing patients, as well as new patients. Telehealth consultations are bulk billed if you have a Medicare card. Telehealth consultations are the same cost as face to face appointments.
Alternatively, patients can call the Coronavirus Health Information line on 1800 020 080.
Patients can also present to the COVID Clinic for Coronavirus testing, which is located at Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gardner Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital. Patients will be tested for the COVID-19 infection if they fit the criteria of:
- Fever over 38C with upper respiratory infective symptoms or
- Overseas or domestic travel in the last 14 days and symptomatic or
- Close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case and symptomatic or
- Symptomatic healthcare workers, aged care workers, police officers and disability support workers
